ATTENTION & FOCUS WORKSHOP WITH BETH COCHRAN

Return to Events Page

Does your “mental picture” include a bright-eyed dog, tail up, who can’t wait to work with you?

Do you want to be able to walk your dog through a crowded obedience trial and never have your dog take his eyes off of you? Warm up and wait outside the agility ring with a dog that ignores the barking maniac on course and focuses on you?

This workshop will emphasize attention from your canine partner – how to get it and how to maintain it. Positive motivation will be the foundation for attention and focus, with advice on when and how to use corrections that leave your canine partner happily trying harder and maintaining drive.

Though the main context will be obedience, the skills can be transferred to agility and any other performance sports where you need good communication and focus from your dog.

No obedience exercises per se will be taught. Clicker skills or other operant conditioning will be a plus, but not necessary.
